Personal

It’s been a while

Published by:

It has been almost a year since I have last posted something here. I’ve been very busy with a lot of things – from my apps to my numerous, time-consuming mommy duties. Anyhow, I will try to revive this blog… somehow.

So what’s up with me lately? My Tres Marias – Yana (my eldest), and Ysha and Yza (my twins) are all in school now. The twins are in Kindergarten I and Yana’s in Grade 1 (She has skipped Kinder II). All of which are trying to cope up with their studies. Yana is still trying to adjust since she skipped ‘Prep’ and there are some new learning concepts and teaching techniques she’s not very accustomed to just yet. Yza and Ysha still have speech problems – but they are ‘talking better’. They took an exam prior to being accepted in school and after the assessment, the school administrator said they can skip the Nursery level. They know more words now, they just have trouble mixing-and-matching them up. Despite all the adjustments, I think all three are doing just fine in school. Biboy, on the other hand, is growing up so fast, running around the house all day and doing all sorts of stuff – and he also keeps me up at night. He has started talking – a bit. Generally, all my kids are doing well.

So what else? Ah. We have no car. We sold the black Honda Jazz last May and we’re carless now – doing a lot of commuting every now and then. As for my apps, I haven’t launched a new app for months now. I really need to start working and finish a few apps this month, or early the next. Otherwise, I will have to rush things and I won’t be able to prepare for my other endeavour – my other endeavour which I have decided not to discuss not until I’m done with it. If I fail at it, I won’t discuss it at all. Ahaha.

So that’s all for now. I hope I can blog more soon and come up with another tips-type article. Will be posting a more relevant article soon – I hope!

Day 12- How I found out about Blogging and Why I made a Blog

Published by:

**I posted two parts of the 30-day blogging challenge today coz I just have to finish this soon and try another challenge. LOL.

I think I started blogging way back in 2007 via Multiply and Friendster (which I already deleted) and then I stopped because I no longer had interest in what was in my blog back then… Well, I still made blog posts, but for other people, mostly for clients abroad – who by the way, did not pay me much for what they were requiring me to write.

Anyway, my interest in keeping a blog of my own came back when I joined an online contest from FrannyWanny’s Blog. Actually, she made me interested in online contests. From there, I stumbled upon an online contest which required the participants to blog about the contest – and so I did. I got addicted to joining contests and then I started blogging and blogging until I was again motivated to blog not only for the contests I’m joining but because I really fell in love with blogging – the second time around.

I blogged and got excited to share my experiences as a mom. I was invited to join a mommy meme – Mommy Moments – and I got even more excited to blog, thanks to Mommy Chris (my 1st ever Mommy Moments post). I eventually met a lot of blogger friends. As I met more friends, I found out from Mommy Rubz and Mommy Pehpot that you can actually earn from blogging without the need to do affiliate marketing (something I learned from my clients).

The rest is history. I now have five blogs (one is not updated) – and am planning to own more.

Top Five Qualities of a Blogger Who Will Be Rich Because of Blogging

Published by:

Making money online as a blogger is not as easy as it sounds. You cannot start blogging today and assume that in just a few months you will be a millionaire puffing a sancho panza aboard your own yacht. That is simply impossible. (Not unless you are selling big time stuff online like houses and cars, or FB-like applications, and you get big big profits)

The good news is though blogging cannot make you rich in an instant, it can really help you EARN ONLINE (through paid to post opportunities, paid adverisements, etc.). Yeah, that means you can quit your office job and work at home while you are in your pjs. However, before you do something drastic, you have to first make sure that you have what it takes to be a good blogger. You have to have the TOP FIVE QUALITIES of a BLOGGER WHO WILL BE RICH BECAUSE OF BLOGGING.

Top 5: You need to be hardworking
Blogging in itself – without the urge to earn money from it – is easy if you love to write. However, if you want to get a decent monthly income from it, you’ll have to put in extra work, extra dedication. You will have to make sure that you blog regularly, meet the deadlines of your advertisers, respond to your readers, do some real research and provide accurate and relevant content, attend some events, do link exchanges, submit to directories, and more. You have to do what it takes to ensure that you get plenty of site visitors, regular readers, and high rankings from Google and Alexa.

Top 4: You have to be OPTIMISTIC
Despite the many blogger responsibilities I’ve mentioned, do you still see Blogging as an easy and fun way to earn? If yes, then good for you. You may have OPTIMISM. Do not let me or other people discourage you from making your mark in the blogging industry and trying to earn from it. You might stumble upon stories of failure (there are plenty) but I assure you, blogging is a lucrative trade for those who love what they do.

Top 3: You should have the willingness to learn
The online world is changing and improving so fast and as a blogger, you should always be willing to embrace its changes. Learning new things is actually one of the many benefits of blogging. As you blog, you will have to learn how to do a bit of computer programming for your site and a lot of social networking and advertising. Keep in mind that you can only keep up with change if you are willing to learn new things, if you are curious. You have to seek knowledge and good advice by researching, checking out webinars, joining forums, reading books, and more. Stop being so stubborn.

Top 2: You need to have DISCIPLINE
When you blog, you are the boss of your own (not unless you’re blogging for somebody else). You don’t have a boss who keeps an eye on you and tells you what to do. When you are a blogger, you should recognize what it is that motivates you to “work” and you should use that motivation so you can blog following your desired but regular schedule. You should be able to recognize your responsibilities and you should be RESPONSIBLE and productive even if no one is strictly monitoring what you are doing.

Top 1: You have to GENUINELY LOVE BLOGGING
Do not laugh. This is important. This is actually the most important trait. Money is not a good enough motivation to blog. You can only reap the real rewards of blogging if you genuinely and sincerely love to blog in the first place. You must have that zeal to share and write about your ideas – what you learn, what you feel, whatever you see around you and whatever you want to. Only from this genuine love to blog will you be able to compel yourself to post more and more every day. Only from this genuine love to blog will your readers see sincerity in your posts and this will encourage them to interact with you and you with them. Only from this genuine love to blog will you be able to find blogger friends who also share the same quality. And, only from this genuine love to blog will you be happy with what you’re doing.

You’ll see, if you love blogging, blogging will love you back.

Avoiding Hand and Wrist Problems due to Prolonged Computer Use (or Excessive Blogging)

Published by:

Bloggers are prone to having health problems that result from our repetitive hand movements, our forceful typing – and even the overly bent position of our hands and wrists when we stop and think of what we should write/key in.  I myself sometimes experience numbness in my right hand after I work at the computer all day long. I hate it when non-bloggers underestimate our job and assume that writing is super easy as compared to what they are doing. As far as I know it can be as risky and as stressful as most office or field jobs – if the blogger is not a wise worker.

It’s actually scary to think that bloggers can easily get Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and what’s scarier is that the treatment for it requires surgery (I already got my fingers stitched before and I don’t want anymore stitching again). I hope someone would come up with blogger safety gloves. Construction workers, bikers, plumbers, and other workers have theirs and I believe bloggers should have specialized safety gloves for blogging too 🙂 (or are there some kind of gloves for us already?)

For the meantime however, here are some tips on how you can avoid common hand and wrist problems caused by prolonged computer use…

  • Wear splints as you work on your computer and do not bend your wrists too high or too low
  • Hold the mouse loosely and click lightly.
  • When you try to move the mouse, use your arm and shoulder not just your wrist.
  • When you want to rest your forearm, don’t place it on the desk.
  • As much as possible, always keep your wrist relaxed not bent.
  • Every hour, make sure you rotate your shoulders and shake your hands and fingers at least five times.
  • Keep a stress ball near you and squeeze it a few times every hour.

Happy – and healthy and safe – blogging to us all 🙂
