One of the most irritating things about life is how difficult it is to save money. There are so many things you have to pay for. If you want to go to the cinema, the ticket prices are slowly rising. Even going into a coffee shop or out to a restaurant with friends, on the rare occasions everyone is free – can cost a small fortune.

We’ve become so used to paying for everything, that we forget there are ways to have fun with friends and family without having to pay a thing. We forget that we can stay indoors and pursue our hobbies from there – (even when we’re inside our bedrooms!). We can socialize on Twitter, play a game on Foxy Bingo, or maybe read the book we bought a year ago (I seriously have a lot of pending books to read).

We can also do other things outside of the house, also for free! Like picnics in the park. This is an easy and sociable way to spend time with our family and friends. The good thing here is that we don’t have to pay admission to get to local parks (although some would require us to pay very small amounts). We can even have the picnic in our garden if we want. And there is no extra cost, because we can simply grab food from our cupboards and refrigerators inside. Everyone can chip in with their own additions.

Or how about you spend a night star gazing when the little ones are tucked up in bed? It’s a natural way to end the day with a bit of peace and quiet. You can simply look for the darkest part of town (or the end of your garden, if you have kids in the house) and observe as the stars and the night sky as it changes. Taking your partner with you can give you both a chance to be alone together and reflect. Mapping the constellations can enhance the experience. You can point them out and observe how they change positions from night to night.

With the rising cost of almost everything these days, we all need to learn how to have more fun for free.
