What Women Hate about Pregnancy
Having a baby is truly a blessing and frankly, if I were given the chance to go back in time and decide whether or not I’ll be having my babies, I’d still want to have them and be pregnant even if it meant that I would be quitting my office-based work, losing my nice curves, and getting some stretch marks. I have to admit though that having a baby and getting pregnant isn’t all about that heavenly feeling of being a mom. There’s also a lot to hate about it and I’m listing some of those not to discourage women from getting pregnant. I’m making this list so those who would want to become moms know what’s ahead of them…so those who would want to be pregnant are aware of its consequences.
- You would hate all the dizziness and morning sickness which not only comes in the morning – but actually any time of the day, usually every time you eat something. You actually won’t be able to eat most of your favorites because you’d hate them for some reason and you’d get cravings and not understand why you like eating certain types of food that you really don’t like much.
- You won’t like it when you gain a lot of weight and your curves disappear, and then you get curves at all the wrong places and you’d look like a tadpole and walk like a penguin. And, with that new figure comes a variety of things that you’d hate too.
- You would have stretch marks. Horrid stretchmarks. You will have stretch marks on your tummy, on your thighs and legs, and sometimes even in your arms and shoulders, and other parts of your body. Of course, the amount of stretch marks that you’d be getting will depend on the amount of weight that you’ll be accumulating, especially in your last trimester. And the sad truth is that it’s hard to prevent stretch marks. It’s also difficult to find a perfect stretch mark removal solution.
- When you have stretch marks and when you’re fat, there’s a high probability that you’d be insecure and depressed – especially if you can no longer do the things that you used to do and you can’t even go out a lot or spend more time partying or hanging out with your family and friends. When you’re pregnant, you can’t do a lot of things. You can’t stay out late at night because you have to sleep early. You can’t smoke (Well, good for me because I don’t really smoke), you can’t drink and get yourself intoxicated. You can’t eat a lot of sweets (Not unless your ob tells you to do so). You can’t eat plenty of salty and fatty foods…. and more.
- You won’t be able to sleep a lot when the baby starts moving a lot and when your tummy gets so big and you won’t feel very comfortable when you’re lying down. You won’t feel comfortable standing up or sitting down either. You will also likely develop muscle cramps and heart burns.
- The worst thing about getting pregnant is that it’s hard to regain what you have lost (Although it’s all worth it when you have your baby all safe in your arms). It is hard to get back to your usual diet when you have already become used to eating for two (or for three in my case). It is hard to lose weight and get your curves back and it is hard to get rid of all the stretch marks you got.
- And oh… I forgot, giving birth – the normal way (not cesarean) is actually PAINFUL. And even after you have delivered your baby, you’ll feel pain from the surgery (but that won’t really matter much once you’ve seen your baby).

***Don’t let me scare you about getting pregnant though. Let me tell you that pregnancy experiences differ. Some don’t experience morning sickness while others experience it a lot. Some develop plenty of stretch marks all over their body while others don’t. Every pregnancy is different but at least now you know that pregnancy is not all sunshine and stars.
